SKIN SOOTHING

for Itching and Redness

Itchy skin can have many causes – from dryness and irritation to allergic reactions.

When the skin’s natural protective barrier is disrupted, it often responds with a feeling of tightness and itching.

  • Skin compatibility describes how well the skin tolerates a product or treatment without reacting negatively.
  • Itching is a common sign of skin irritation and can be triggered by dryness, allergies, or unsuitable ingredients.
  • Redness often results from irritation, inflammation, or increased blood flow to the skin.
  • Skin soothing means helping the skin return to balance after stress or irritation.

What Causes Itching and Skin Redness?

The causes are varied and range from harmless reactions to new clothing to chronic skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis or psoriasis. Common triggers include…

Dry skin

Dry skin is one of the most frequent causes of itching or redness, especially during the colder months. When the skin lacks moisture, it can become tight, flaky, and irritated, which leads to persistent itching.

Seasonal allergies

Seasonal allergies, intolerances to certain foods, or reactions to skincare products can trigger itching. The skin may react to pollen, dust, or specific ingredients in soaps and lotions. If the itching is severe or persistent, you should seek medical advice.

Skin diseases

Skin diseases such as eczema, psoriasis, or hives lead to inflamed and itchy skin. These conditions often require special care to soothe and regenerate the skin.

Fungal infections

Fungal infections, bacterial infections, or viruses such as chickenpox can also cause severe itching. In this case, you should definitely seek medical treatment.

Environmental factors

Extreme temperatures such as intense heat or cold can dry out the skin and trigger itching. Excessive sun exposure or chlorinated water can also irritate the skin.

EXPERTS EXPLAIN

Our study designs for skin compatibility, itching, redness, and skin soothing

To test the skin compatibility of our products, there are various methods and studies. All our products are scientifically reviewed in dermatological studies.

In application studies, our products are tested for their compatibility over a period of 4 weeks under dermatological supervision in the laboratory or at the Study Center.

In addition to objective measurement methods and the assessment of skin condition by a dermatologist, we also use subjective evaluation by participants in this area. This method serves to capture the perceived effect of a product from the user’s perspective and thus complements the results of a measurement method in efficacy studies.

For this purpose, participants fill out a questionnaire after using the product. This method is used to assess visible and/or tangible skin characteristics – either through the objective evaluation by our experts or through the semi-objective assessment by test subjects – using descriptive or visual scales.

INCOMPATIBILITY REACTIONS

Certain cosmetic ingredients may have an irritant or sensitizing potential and thus trigger skin reactions in consumers.

Incompatibility reactions that occur in rare cases during product use are clarified through diagnostic examinations if desired.

Based on these studies, we develop and confirm claims — i.e. advertising statements —
for our products with the help of our study participants.
